The Wonderful World of Heat Pipes and How They Can Be Effectively Utilized to Meet the Florida Building Code

This webinar video explores an in-depth review at how heat pipes can be used to meet the Florida Building Code by covering:

  • Code requirements and how they apply to ASHRAE Std 90.1...and, therefore, other states
  • How heat pipes can be utilized to meet these code requirements
  • How wrap-around heat pipes compare to ERV's
  • How control valves offer more than just controllability

The Wonderful World of Heat Pipes and How They Can be Effectively Utilized to Meet Energy Code

This webinar video focuses on how to utilize the wrap-around heat pipe to help meet various ASHRAE standards including both ASHRAE Standard 62.1 2013, as well as ASHRAE Standard 90.1 2013. In addition, it will discuss other various energy recovery technologies including both wheel and fixed plates, with pros and cons of each technology. A comparison is shown between an enthalpy wheel and a wrap-around heat pipe relating both first costs and annual savings. It will finish with how to utilize the controllable wrap-around heat pipe by looking at part load conditions to increase overall yearly savings. (Webinar-20160428)

The Wonderful World of Wrap Around Heat Pipes and the Impact They Have on DOAS Systems

The webinar video starts with an introduction of DOAS systems and why they are used. A few of the advantages discussed in regards to a DOAS system include the benefit of better indoor air quality (IAQ), more accurate building pressurization, and an easier path to LEED points with a decoupled system. From there the video discusses how to optimize DOAS Units with wrap-around heat pipes, which can lead to downsizing equipment and increasing EER of the unit. (Webinar-20151203)
